Queridos amigos,
En los últimos meses he observado profundos avances
en distintos ámbitos. El rumbo de algunos acontecimientos
auspiciosos y poderosos nos muestra claramente la dirección que toma
nuestro futuro y la magnitud de lo que tenemos por delante. Así,
la Gran Ceremonia de Inauguración del Monasterio Ripa en Nepal y la
reunión histórica de las familias sagradas Ripa y Mukpo mediante
la boda real de Semo Tseyang Palmo y Sakyom Mipham Rímpoche, son buenas
muestras de ello.
Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para llamar
vuestra atención acerca de la noticia más importante
que deseo compartir con vosotros. Me siento complacido de anunciaros que
tras largos meses de incansable búsqueda, parece que nuestras oraciones
han sido finalmente escuchadas. He encontrado el terreno adecuado para albergar
el “Centro Europeo Ripa” en la provincia de Girona, España. El terreno
está bendecido con muchas de las características que son idealmente
apropiadas para mantener y promover los logros del “Mandala de la Sangha”,
como una corriente de energía de armonía elemental, una “comunidad
de Sangha viva”.
Hace más de diez años que viajo por Europa
trabajando en estrecha colaboración con vosotros, quizás no
como un gran maestro, sino más bien como un amigo espiritual, un “maestro
de corazón”. He descubierto todos los matices del panorama espiritual
y material de vuestras vidas, del entusiasmo a la duda, de la meditación
a la frustración, del miedo a la confianza, de la emotividad a la
energía… y en este proceso he aprendido enormemente. Creo sinceramente
que gracias a vosotros he crecido y madurado. Vuestro amor incondicional,
respeto y confianza me han conmovido y me han marcado profundamente. De hecho
vosotros sois la razón y la inspiración mismas que alientan
mi visión y mi deseo de fundar el “Centro Europeo Ripa”.
Mi visión es que este lugar permita la creación
de una “comunidad de Sangha viva”, para ayudar, compartir, aprender, practicar
y procurar orientación y liderazgo espiritual a nuestros hijos y al
mundo en su conjunto, para que sea posible una vida compasiva y llena de
sentido. En esta época en que el odio y el conflicto asolan al mundo,
es más necesario que nunca promover y preservar la sabiduría
y la compasión.
Por otro lado, me he dado cuenta de que la primera generación
de estudiantes está envejeciendo paulatinamente y que, por tanto,
cada vez es más urgente establecer un “hogar espiritual”, un lugar
donde poder gozar de acompañamiento espiritual en un entorno propicio
durante los últimos y valiosos años de sus vidas. Y este es
exactamente el tipo de lugar que pretendo establecer.
“Ri” significa “montaña”;
“Pa”, “mendigo”, aquel que hace de la soledad su hogar y dedica su vida entera
a la práctica y a la meditación para el beneficio de todos
los seres. “Ri” también simboliza la tierra y “Pa” significa “guardián”;
así pues, “Ripa” quiere decir “Guardián de la Tierra”. Estoy
seguro de que el “Centro Europeo Ripa” será un tributo digno a la
cadena ininterrumpida de Grandes Maestros Ripa, un linaje cuyo origen se
remonta al siglo XVI, así como a todos los preciosos Maestros del
presente, cuyas bendiciones nos han dejado una profunda huella y han provocado
profundos cambios en nuestras vidas.
No obstante, para que esta visión se convierta
en realidad, necesito vuestro apoyo. Así pues, os pido que deis con
generosidad: vuestro respaldo es vital para que el proyecto se realice. Me
gustaría también que contemplarais este proyecto desde
el corazón y con mucho cariño. Juntos podemos hacer que suceda.
Vuestras contribuciones generarán mérito para consolidar el
Dharma –fuente de felicidad para todos los seres- y para que pueda
permanecer y florecer en el mundo para siempre.

Dear friends,
Over the last several months, I have seen profound developments on several
fronts. The turn of certain auspicious and powerful events shows us clearly
the way our future is going and the magnitude of what lies ahead. Indeed,
the Grand Opening of the Ripa Monastery in Nepal and the historic coming
together of the sacred families of Ripa and Mukpo through the royal marriage
of Semo Tseyang Palmo to Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche are good indicators of it.
I would like to seize this opportunity to draw your attention to the most
important piece of news that I wish to share with you. I am most delighted
to announce that, after several months of tireless search, it looks like
our aspirations and prayers have finally been fulfilled. Indeed, I have found
the land fit for our “Ripa European Centre” in the region of Girona, Spain.
The land is blessed with many of the characteristics that are ideally suited
for sustaining and promoting the accomplishments of the “Sangha Mandala”,
like a flow of energy of elementary harmony, a “living community of Sangha”.
I have spent over ten years in Europe and worked closely with you, perhaps
not as a great master, but as a dear spiritual friend, a “teacher from the
heart”. I have seen all the colours of the spiritual and practical landscape
of your lives, from excitement to hesitation, meditation to frustration,
fear to confidence and emotional upheaval to energy, and in the process I
have learnt a great deal. I honestly believe that I have grown and become
more mature with you; your unconditional love, respect and trust have touched
me deeply and left a profound effect. In fact, you are the very reason and
inspiration that fuels both my vision and wish to establish the “Ripa European
Centre”.
My vision is that this place would enable the forming of a “living community
of Sangha” to care, share, learn, practice and produce guidance and spiritual
leadership for our children and the world at large so that they all may lead
a meaningful and compassionate life. Today, as our world is torn apart with
hatred and conflict, there is more than ever an urgent need to preserve and
promote wisdom and compassion.
On the other hand, I have noticed that the first generation of students is
slowly ageing, and therefore there is an increasing need for a “spiritual
home”, where spiritual care can be provided in a spiritual environment during
the last precious years of their lives. And this is exactly the kind of place
I intend to set up.
“Ri” means “mountain”; “Pa” means “mendicant”, the one who embraces solitude
as its home and dedicates its entire life to practice and meditation for
the benefit of all beings. “Ri” also symbolises the earth and “Pa” means
“caretaker”. Therefore, “Ripa” signifies “Caretaker of the Earth”.
I am convinced that the “Ripa European Centre” will be a suitable tribute
to the unbroken chain of great Ripa Masters, whose lineage origin dates back
to 16th Century. It will also be a due homage to all the precious Masters
of the present, whose blessings have left a lasting effect on us and have
brought about profound changes in our lives.
However, in order for this vision to become a reality, I need your generosity.
I would therefore like to ask you to give generously; your support is vital
for the realization of this project. Also, I would like you to see this project
from your heart and cherish it dearly. Together, we can make it happen. Your
contribution will generate merit to secure the Dharma –the source of happiness
for all beings-, so that it may remain and flourish in the world forever.
